The DAST (Drone for Aeronautical and Structural Testing) simulation was used from 1977 to 1983 in support of the flight program. The DAST was a modified Firebee II supersonic drone that was remotely piloted with a special wing designed for studies into non-rigid wings using electronic damping under high aerodynamic loads.
