Title : Stockton and Galt, California, U.S.A. October 1994
Caption :
This low-oblique, south-looking photograph features Stockton, developed in the late 1840s and early 1850s during the California Gold Rush. Stockton is a major transportation processing center and seaport at the head of the San Joaquin River Delta. Visible are runways of the municipal airport and numerous transportation routes traversing in all directions, the most prominent of which is north-south Interstate Highway 5. Scattered agricultural field patterns of the northern San Joaquin Valley and the beginning of the San Joaquin River Delta are apparent. Galt lies north of Stockton.
