Caption :
(04/20/1969) -- The Mariner G spacecraft scheduled for launch at 4:58 p.m. March 24 atop an Atlas-Centaur is mated with its protective launch shroud at Cape Kennedy. If successful, it will be designated Mariner 7 and join Mariner 6 in a flyby mission past the planet Mars. The twin, 900-pound spacecraft are to arrive in the vicinity of Mars at five-day intervals in late July and early August. Mariner 6 was launched from the Cape's Launch Complex 36-A on Feb. 24 and is now more than 4 million miles from the Earth.
