L-1011 aircraft waits at Cape Canaveral Air Force Station, Fla., for its mission, to carry the Pegasus XL rocket attached beneath it to the rocket's mid-air launch site. The Pegasus will launch the High Energy Solar Spectroscopic Imager (HESSI) encased in its top to explore the basic physics of particle acceleration and energy release in solar flares. The launch is scheduled for Feb. 5, 2002
