Title : South African Dust

Caption :

On May 13, 2001, the satellite viewed dust blowing out of Namibia and Angola in a pattern that seems to be the norm for dust storms in this area - namely, many individual jets of dust-laden air spread out along the coastline. Also, if you look carefully, you will see a straight line transition from greener to less green land that marks the border between Angola and Namibia. Different land-use policies in the two countries account for the difference in color.
