From the tip of one solar wing to the other, ASTRA 2C, a Boeing 601HP satellite, measures 85 feet. Here, in the Boeing Satellite Systems Integration and Test Facility, one wing of the solar array is shown being added to the spacecraft. Built for Luxembourg-based Société Européenne des Satellites, ASTRA 2C is the ninth satellite that Boeing Satellite Systems has delivered to SES for launch. Boeing's relationship with SES spans nearly a decade, and a total of 10 satellites have been ordered from Boeing by SES. Operating entirely in the Ku-band frequency, ASTRA 2C will provide pan-European service to SES customers from 19.2 or 28.2 degrees East longitude. The Proton launch is scheduled for June 16 from Baikonur, Kazakhstan.
