(03/27/1975) -- The mated orbiter and lander for Viking A were encapsulated within a Centaur shroud at Spacecraft Assembly and Encapsulation Facility 2 (SAEF-2) today. The spacecraft, one of two to be launched toward Mars atop Titan/Centaurs in August, is to be moved to Launch Complex 41 on March 31 for extensive testing. KSC's Unmanned Launch Operations Directorate is scheduled to launch the twin Vikings during a 10-day period in August.
